4 free creative tools to help boost your content marketing efforts

Content marketing is proving so popular that according to Content Management Institute (CMI) data, 91% of B2B marketers use content marketing to reach their customers, while 86% of B2C marketers believe that content marketing is a key strategy.

Effective content marketing is critical for any growing business. It’s not only a reliable method to help drive conversions and generate leads, but helps connect and build trust with audiences.

It’s also a lot of work. So, we’ve put together a short list of our favourite tools that will help you produce content more efficiently and at a reduced cost.

Canva – Quick and easy graphics

Canva is a simple but incredibly useful piece of graphic design software, which uses a drag-and-drop approach to constructing everything from social media graphics to reports and leaflets. Whether you start from scratch or use a premade template, Canva can help you create on-brand designs that are optimised for your target channels.

  • Pros: Hundreds of templates; a variety of free images, video and graphics to choose from; easy to use.
  • Cons: Some useful features, such as uploading your own fonts, are only available on the paid version.

Emoji Keyboard – Say it with a 🙂

This tool is a must for any social media manager who schedules and writes posts. With Emoji Keyboard, there’s no need to schedule social posts via your phone, simply view the website or add the Chrome extension and you can copy and paste an array of emojis on your desktop.

  • Pros: Reduces time by eliminating the use of a mobile to generate emojis.
  • Cons: Doesn’t offer every emoji that your phone may have and will feature the occasional pop-up advertising 3rd party content.

Kapwing – Simple video editing

Looking for a quick video editing tool? Kapwing offers multiple features to help any marketer with their video needs. From trimming video, to muting or adding subtitles, Kapwing offers a range of basic features to help finish off your video.

  • Pros: There are multiple editing features to use and, if you register for a free account, you can export content free of watermarking.
  • Cons: Kapwing’s video maker feature is vulnerable to crashes and exporting video can often be a slow process.

Feedly – A treasure trove of ideas

Feedly gathers multiple news and articles and puts them neatly in one place for you. It’s a quick content generation tool that can help you find tailored content for you to read or share.

  • Pros: You can set up Feeds, which lets you subscribe to particular content channels and makes finding relevant content more efficient.
  • Cons: You’re unable to link Feedly to a scheduling tool, which means that manual scheduling to social media is required.
