That Media Thing has two exciting vacancies for talented Staff Writers to join its expanding content team. These are full-time positions to be based at That Media Thing’s head office in Bath, UK.
That Media Thing is founded on decades of media publishing experience and we are focused on creating high quality content to deliver authentic audience engagement. Subject expertise, a flair for words and an exhaustive depth of ideas and energy are a must if you want to join our creative team.
These positions would suit someone either starting out in modern media journalism and communications, or looking to take their writing career to the next level. The right candidate will be able to write tight content, specifically targeting audience interests and needs, and will therefore have a thirst to master the subjects that they turn their hand to.
As a Staff Writer at That Media Thing, you will also take a key role in social media promotion, including creating, analysing and optimising how our content targets and captures the attention of the best possible audience. You will also get involved with editorial meetings and planning, and be expected to bring great ideas for stories to the table, including how they can be brought to life with great visuals.
Above all, we expect the right candidate to be ambitious and have a passion for exploring the potential for great content to carve a new kind of writing career not normally possible in traditional publishing.
Experience of writing original copy for online publications is key. And knowledge of web publishing systems, experience with Photoshop, video editing, data analysis, and the other fundamental tools of digital journalism will all be an advantage.
Please also note that we offer extremely flexible working terms, both for hours worked as well as location-based. This is in addition to a number of other company benefits all designed to create a happy and productive working environment.
Apply with a covering letter explaining how you want readers of your content to feel, plus your CV and two examples of your writing that you’re most proud of. Send this all in PDF format to firstname.lastname@example.org including Staff Writer in the subject box, plus details of when you would be available to meet for an interview and where you’d be travelling from in the message.
This is also your opportunity to tell us what you think makes good content and why. Please also detail any subject areas that you are particularly experienced in, although we are not necessarily looking for specialists in one subject area over another.
